Dear Diary

I was cleaning out a closet, and I came across my very first journal, my diary that I wrote in when I was 11 or 12. That made me think of all the journaling I have done most of my life in an attempt to put my thoughts, feelings and experiences in a form that I could look at from time to time and remember.

I have kept journals on trips, on weight loss programs, when I was pregnant, when I was in Graduate school, etc, etc. Through good times and bad my journal reflected what was going on in my life in my own words, and writing the journal was therapeutic for me on more than one occasion. I have encouraged many clients and students to keep a journal as a tool of self discovery and in some cases healing,

Of all my journals, the most important one to me was the record of my spiritual journey. And since I have been on this journey for more than 40 years, needless to say I have numerous volumes spanning 4 decades. When I look back and read them, I can see where I was and how far I have come on my journey. The experiences written in my journals have made me who I am today and in retrospect I can see where I have made choices that were supported by the universe and others that were not.

What is in those journals?

– flashes of intuition, inspiration and knowing
– precognitive dreams; dream visitations from loved ones
– synchronicities, being in the right place at the right time
– affirmations of things that I have drawn into my life
– psychic experiences of all kinds
– important people who just showed up at the right moment, angels
– hopes wishes and dreams for the future

There are way too many things to list. The important happenings and milestones in my spiritual development are recorded in a way that I can go back and remember those experiences especially at times when I may be unsure of what I am seeing or feeling. Reading my journals helps me remember where I was spiritually 20 years ago, the wisdom of my path and the ever present support of the universe.

At 67, I still journal. My children journal and my grandchildren will journal. It is a gift that one gives to oneself and facilitates the discovery of who you are, what you think and feel and how the universe supports you as you create your life.
